REGIONAL MANAGER

As Regional Manager you will lead the growth and operations of North Harbour Volleyball Association (NHVA). Working closely with the NHVA Board, you will identify, develop and implement sustainable opportunities to support the ongoing growth of the sport and the association.

You will lead, support and manage the staff of NHVA to deliver high quality volleyball participation opportunities across all priority areas of participation, competition and game development. You will effectively delegate to staff so that the Regional Manager role can function at the expected level.

You will ensure that NHVA is creating a culture of community and participation in the delivery of the sport to ensure we are providing a positive environment for players to experience, develop and thrive in the sport. NHVA will build on its competitive success at a National level and support pathways for players to progress to the highest levels of the sport.

You will manage key stakeholder relationships including Auckland Council, Volleyball NZ, key funders, schools,

Harbour Sport and other organisations that may support the growth of volleyball in the North Harbour region.

Experience

 Tertiary qualification in management / sports management / coaching or other relevant qualification preferred

 Minimum five years experience in a people management leadership role

 Prior experience in key account / stakeholder relationship management

 

THE ROLE

Support effective governance and implementation of the NHVA Strategic Plan

 Provide timely reporting and communication to support the NHVA Board to govern effectively

 Prepare a monthly report for the NHVA Board and attend Board meetings

 Provide a summary weekly update for the Chair of the NHVA Board

 Work with the NHVA Board, to deliver, monitor and update the NHVA Strategic Plan

Planning and Monitoring

 Develop, maintain and deliver a plan to develop volleyball in the North Harbour region

 Support the Board to develop and deliver quality strategies for the region with alignment to VNZ plans

 

 

People and Culture

 

 Lead the NHVA staff team to foster a growth mindset to support the continued growth of the sport across different formats and levels of participation

 Foster a continuous improvement customer centric team approach that puts the needs of the players at the forefront of what we do

 Manage NHVA staff to ensure that all community facing and administrative functions of NHVA are completed to a high standard in a timely manner

 Support the Board and staff to develop and implement strategies for the ongoing growth and development of staff, coaches, referees, volunteers and administrators, that support the delivery of volleyball

 

Delivery and Development

 

 Ensure that events, programmes, competitions and other activities of NHVA are effectively planned, resourced, and delivered to a high standard.

 Ensure that systems are in place for the regular collection of customer feedback across all areas of delivery, and that feedback is regularly reviewed in support of a continuous improvement approach

 Identify, develop and propose sustainable growth opportunities to the NHVA Board for consideration, and oversee the resourcing and implementation of these once approved

 Ensure that regular and timely communication is in place across all channels to support high levels of community awareness, engagement and satisfaction in the activities of NHVA.

 

Stakeholder Management

 

 Develop and oversee a stakeholder management plan to ensure a high level of engagement with the Volleyball community including schools and clubs.

 Maintain a strong relationship with VNZ and other Regional Association’s to ensure Harbour Volleyball is leveraging the collective resources of the sport, and actively seek mutually beneficial opportunities for alignment in the delivery and development of the sport

 Directly manage key stakeholder relationships including significant grant funders, Local Boards, and Harbour Sport

 

Financial management, budgets and controls

 

 Prepare and be responsible for the annual operating budget

 Oversee the annual schedule for preparing grant funding applications, ensuring reconciliations for successful applications are completed on time.

 On an annual basis, review fees and charges for all activities and provide recommended changes to the NHVA Board for review

 Ensure that systems are in place and completed for the collection of all fees and payments due to NHVA

 

General administration

 

 Oversee day to day operations and triage any issues prior to escalating to the Board

 In conjunction with the NHVA Board, develop and maintain a Risk Management Plan and Obligations Register.

 

Please note this is a PART TIME ROLE of approximately 20 hours per week currently. The role has flexibility in hours and can have hybrid working locations. There is potential for hours to be increased with funding.

Salary $100,000 per annum pro rata (20 hours, $50k)
