Harbour Volleyball is excited to welcome Maria Tyrrell as our new Regional Manager
Maria brings a wealth of experience in sports administration, having served on the Harbour Basketball Board and as General Manager of BNZ Kāhu – Auckland’s professional women’s basketball team based at Eventfinda Stadium. Before that Maria had a career in research and insights, so don’t be surprised if she asks a few thought-provoking questions!
“I’m thrilled to be joining Harbour Volleyball supporting the continued growth. There’s so much potential in our region! You’ll find me at the fantastic Beach Centre on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, and around the courts as well. If you are wanting to get extra opportunities to learn and improve on indoor volleyball skills OR to just fill in your school holidays with something to do then registering for our Harbour Volleyball School Holiday Programmes are ideal for you! The focus for each of the holiday programmes is on general technical development of skills, including: passing, serving, setting, and hitting, and implementing those skills in games and game like activities.
We accommodate students from years 5 to 13 and at all skill levels, running two separate programmes, one for Year 5 – 8, and one for year 9 – 13.
Dates:
Year 5-8 Monday ONLY – 22 September, 2025
Year 9-13 Tuesday 23 September – Wednesday 24 September, 2025
Time (Both Programmes):
9:00 AM – 9:15 AM – Sign In
9:15 AM -10:45 AM Morning Block
10:45 AM – 11:15 AM Interval / Games

Harbour Volleyball will be competing in the Age Group Beach Inter – Provincial Championships from Tuesday 13 January 2026 – Thursday 15 January, 2026 at Mount Maunganui Main Beach.
Players will register as individuals and not as partners all partners will be paired by North Harbour coaches. Once partners have been paired these pairings will remain there will be no partner changing. Only under sickness, injury, or the inability to make the tournament will partner changes be considered.
Trial Date: Sunday 19 October, 2025
Venue: Harbour Beach Volleyball Centre – 65 Maxwelton Drive, Mairangi Bay
Trial Fee: To trial there is a $10.00 fee, this must be paid before or at trials (Cash or eftpos).
Age: Trials are open to all athletes in the U17 & U19 age bracket:
Under 17 – Athletes cannot turn 17 in 2026
Under 19 – Athletes cannot turn 19 in 2026

Grab a partner and come on down to the Harbour Beach Volleyball Centre and play against other pairs from other Harbour Schools – it is recommended you play with someone from your high school however it is not compulsory.
Only one of person per team needs to register.

Year 9 – 13

Every Monday for 5 consecutive Mondays (excluding Labour Day).
League starts 13 October, 2025
League finishes 17 November, 2025

VDP is a great programme to coach our athletes on the basic fundamentals and tactics of beach volleyball, all at our Harbour Beach Volleyball Centre in Mairangi Bay.
The programme is aimed at school-aged athletes but adults are welcome to join as well.
We offer 2 classes:
- Beginner VDP – this generally consists of Intermediate School aged athletes.
- Development/ Advanced VDP – this is for our more experienced and older athletes.
The Beginner VDP will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5pm
The Development/ Advanced VDP will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:45-6pm
You can opt to play on Tuesday only, Thursday only, or both Tuesday and Thursday.

This is a 4v4 social league, all levels welcome.
The bar will be open and the music pumping. Be sure to register early as this league can fill up quickly.
Dates: 10 consecutive Tuesdays from 7 October to 9 December, 2025
Times: 3 rounds starting at 6pm until sunset.
Format: 3 Divisions – Competitive, Intermediate and Social/Beginner. First 2 weeks will be grading.

The Intermediate School Beach Volleyball League is a fun opportunity for our Intermediate School athletes to play games with mates while also learning some basic fundamentals.
The league is 8 weeks long from Wednesday 15 October to Wednesday 3 December from 4:15-5:30pm at our Harbour Beach Volleyball Centre.
SPACES ARE LIMITED SO IT’S FIRST-IN, FIRST-SERVED.
Each week we let you decide who to play with, and if you enter individually or with a small team, we easily slide you in to other teams.
Registration Fee: $80 for the term. Every participant must register individually.

About the Opportunities Fund…
PURPOSE
The Harbour Volleyball Opportunities Fund has been established to assist HARBOUR players, coaches and referees with expenses directly related to volleyball development, training programmes, competitions, and events.
The primary purpose is to enable training and competing at a regional, national and international representative level for Harbour Volleyball participants by helping to reduce financial barriers to participation.
A further outcome is the continued development of recipients’ volleyball skills and ability which will feed into the overall improvement of volleyball in the Harbour region.
ELIGIBILITY:
- Players, coaches, referees
- Secondary School age and over
- Resides in and participates in the Harbour Volleyball community
- One application per person per year
- An application can be made prior to trialling for an event with approval subject to successful selection and overall criteria met
100% of all donations received go straight to our successful applicants, and if you are donating we sincerely thank you for your generosity.
